The Solarium
Another unusual feature of the house is the solarium. Plants, such as ferns, geraniums and herbs were raised here and the slatted floor made an easy task of sweeping dead leves and water down to an excavated part of the building. A door in the ceiling could be opened by a pulley thus allowing sunlight and rain in to keep the plants healthy.
